GREELEY FAMILY GENEALOGY |
||
| The information here in
contained is from "The BOOK" ..otherwise known
as the Greele-Greely-Greeley Genealogy, by George Hiram
Greeley, which was published in Boston in 1905. I started on this project many years ago after my dad passed on to me papers that his sister (my aunt) Mabel had left when she died. He (my dad) told me there was a book about the family, which I discovered I could access in the New York Public Library. During the hot summer months I would travel by train from New Jersey and sit for hours copying notes into a spiral note book. (lap top computers were way to expensive for individuals and to heavy to carry). then I would take them home and transpose the information into a lotus 1-2-3 spread sheet and save on a floppy disk. Several years ago I found a copy of the book and purchased it (Now living in Pennsylvania, it was cheaper than traveling to New York City) Although the primary data is from the book, where I have had the opportunity, I have added or corrected data. The latest addition is the inclusion of the county of an occurrence ( It helps when you are looking for additional data |
Recently the web site was
visited by a Greeley who is not on the Andrew
Greele Tree ( as outlines in George H Greeley's Book ) The first page of the book mentions 3 brothers who were in Portsmouth, NH in the early 1700's and whom appear to have settled in Maine.
